The recently established Financial Community Update
forum successfully debuted on May 27, 2002. Around thirty guests from the higher echelons of the Swiss financial
community listened attentively to Martin Meier-Pfister speech about "Erfolgsfaktor
Investor Relations? Finanzkommunikation in der Schweiz" a report on investor relations and financial
communication in Switzerland written by the IR Firm. A book bearing the same title was published in April 2002
by NZZ Buchverlag. A discussion between Anja Stubenrauch and René Braginsky, the institutional investor
and CEO of Incentive Capital, marked the highlight of the evening. A talkative and high-spirited Mr. Braginsky
outlined his investment approach: First, have a sharp eye for trends, second, listen well and, third, build
up targeted positions quietly and steadily, regardless whether the price is high or low. Braginsky doesn¯t think
much of the stage-managed appearances many CEOs make today. All too often, he says, management treats investors
as if they were clueless and tells them untruths. Braginsky advocated relatively honest corporate reporting
and disclosure. René Braginsky's strong words in the third part of the evening triggered a lively discussion
among the audience. Mouth-watering delicacies from Hotel Zürichberg's wine cellar and kitchen rounded out
the evening. The next event is scheduled for the end of 2002. |
